CPS-ST-S Studio Control System

CPS-ST is an advanced camera control software package providing a flexible architecture for television studio automation. Control of camera positions, CCU controls, and peripheral devices provide a single operator efficient control of studio operations.

Most studio applications follow a scripted story or controlled environment, where camera shots can be setup in advance. Utilizing a GUI (Graphical User Interface) to create a storyboard display of camera shots, CPS-ST provides access to unique camera shot combinations. There are 16 camera shots on screen at one time, 160 camera shots are available. These sixteen shots are dynamically assignable to a camera when memorized. Each camera shot memorizes

  • Camera (Pan/Tilt)
  • Pan, Tilt, Zoom, Focus, Iris1 and Master Pedestal1 Positions
  • Still Image (Captured Image)
  • Caption
  • Shot Speed

When a shot is recalled (using S2 style pan/tilt heads), all axes begin and end simultaneously using the shot speed for the duration of the shot. This shot convergence provides a smooth transition from the current camera location to the desired shot. The feature provides an ON-AIR move, which is repeatable with the touch of a button. An experienced camera operator is no longer required to provide ON-AIR quality moves.

A joystick control panel, synchronized with CPS-ST, provides trim controls for pan, tilt, zoom, focus, iris, and master pedestal to adjust the camera’s position. The control panel also provides access to the sixteen GUI camera shots using buttons on the control panel. In emergencies, the control panel can be routed directly to the cameras.

An external video switcher provides the source for the captured still images of the storyboard. Additionally, the video can be utilized as a camera operator preview. This external switcher may be located in the equipment room providing less clutter at the control location. Peripheral device controls such as an audio mixer and lighting are available.

Control to the cameras can be provided through Telemetrics Serial Transfer Switch (STS-12), TCP/IP (Ethernet), Modems, or Peer-to-Peer TM-CPS system. CPS-ST is capable of supporting up to 50 cameras per show file. The cameras can be further divided into 9 groups. Multiple control locations are supported incorporating CPS-ST controls or dedicated hardware control panels.

  1. CCU functions for most cameras are available2, usually emulating the manufacturer’s remote operating panel. This provides a cost savings since multiple, expensive manufacturer’s CCU control panels are replaced with one CPS-ST package. Each camera is assigned its own software control panel allowing for on-air adjustments with the use of iris and master pedestal encoder knobs on the Telemetrics control panels. Numerous scene files are available for each camera. Different camera models can easily be integrated at one control location. Utilizing CPS-ST's CCU functions minimizes cable requirements at the camera since CCU controls are multiplexed with PAN/TILT data.
  2. Iris and Master Pedestals are available with specific camera and control options.
  3. Camera Controls for Panasonic AWE Series, Sony DXC-990, Hitachi ZXXXX Series, Sony RM-M7G Compatible Cameras. Other cameras available on request Sony BVPXXX, Hitachi HVXXX series, Ikegami, JVC KY Series.

CP-LG-S Legislative Camera Control System

Sony DFS700A Digital Multi-effects Production Switcher

Inscriber - Inca Store Character Generator

Kramer VS-88A Audio Matrix Switcher supports Audio-follow-Video mode.

The CPS-LG-S Legislative software includes a customizable equipment interface. Consult factory for additional information.

The Telemetrics computer control software CPS-LG-S is designed to automate a legislative studio application. Control of camera positions, CCU control, Video Switcher DSK, Video Switcher Program/Preview busses, and Character Generator graphics allow a single operator to efficiently control the studio.

Utilizing robotic cameras, the logistics of locating a legislative member has been simplified by using a GUI (Graphical User Interface). Each member can be allocated to a seat. Utilizing a bitmap overlay, the seats can be assigned to any region (at least 2 sides) on the bitmap. This region acts as a button having a transparent color and can have an irregular shape. Each seat contains location presets (pan, tilt, zoom, focus) for two cameras, member’s name, member’s initials and a character generator preset. Up to 300 seats can be defined. Twenty of the seats can be assigned as cover presets located as buttons at the bottom of the screen. The status of the audio system can be displayed for each seat when a compatible audio system is used.

When a seat is activated (via touchscreen or mouse), the software recalls the preset shot associated with that seat. If the camera is currently on program output, no movement will occur on that camera. The preview bus of the video switcher will switch to the camera that the preset is assigned to. On switching to program, CPS-LG-S recalls the CG preset of the seat last called. A joystick control panel provides trim controls for pan, tilt, zoom and focus.

CPS-SA-S Sport Arena Camera Control System

The Telemetrics CPS Sports Arena System is designed to simplify the logistics of locating and identifying a stadium section by using a GUI(Graphical User Interface). The CPS-SA-S GUI integrates a section chart and robotic camera presets to quickly locate a stadium seat location and display the section number in real-time.

The CPS Sports Arena System is used to visually monitor interaction between attendants and stadium personnel. Multi camera installations provide overlapping zones of surveillance using computer controlled preset shots and proportional joystick position control. Stadium section numbers automatically presented in the video, assist the operator in locating the subject of the video being viewed.
