Florida Channel WFSU-TV Covers State Legislature
With Over 50 Telemetrics Camera Robotic Systems.

Mahwah, NJ -- The Florida public is keeping a close eye on their elected officials at work these days since the Florida Channel WFSU-TV began installing sophisticated camera robotics systems from Telemetrics, Inc. To date, 53 of Telemetrics' advanced PT-HP Camera Robotic Pan/Tilt Systems have been installed throughout the Florida State Capital to provide comprehensive coverage of government sessions in the state senate, house and chamber. Florida Channel WFSU-TV, which is owned by Florida State University, provides the video feeds for airing on several different broadcast and cable channels to provide state-wide access to the programming.

"The Telemetrics camera robotics systems have worked out excellent for us," said Bob Sims, Chief Engineer at Florida News Channel WFSU-TV. "The remote control capabilities allow us to provide detailed coverage of the legislature from centralized locations with a fraction of the manpower required for manned camera systems."

The Florida State Capital houses many different rooms and chambers where elected officials from across the state meet to conduct business. Depending on their size, committee rooms employ anywhere from two to four Telemetrics camera robotic systems. A total of 28 camera systems are installed on the house side of the facility, 1 in the main chamber and 18 to cover the senate. The remaining camera robotics systems are used in meeting rooms for teleconferencing and in the pressroom. The PT-HP Camera Robotic Pan/Tilt Systems are controlled from any of four control rooms located in the building using Telemetrics' CP-RMQ-S Rack Mount Quad Preset Control Panels.

Telemetrics PT-HP Camera Robotic Pan/Tilt Systems provide a wrap-around cradle for high performance 3CCD cameras such as the Sony DXC950's used by the Florida Channel WFSU-TV. The unit can accommodate up to a 50-pound payload with features that include precision motors for smooth operation, a built-in lens interface with motor drives, and motor isolation mounts for quiet operation.

The CP-RMQ-S Rack Mount Quad Preset Control Panels from Telemetrics are capable of controlling up to 4 cameras with 16 presets for each camera. The units incorporate overlay panels to accommodate optional control functions such as trolley rotator control (CPO-TRO), iris open/close (CPO-C) and control of up to 8 cameras (CPO-C8). Additional performance capabilities include a motion control option with a 128K memory card that provides eight 32-second movements for each camera and up to 1/2 hour of real time recording. A desktop version is also available (CP-DTQ-S) with a video switching option (CPO-VS).

"The Florida Channel WFSU-TV is a very advanced government broadcasting operation that wanted nothing but the best in camera robotics performance, control and reliability," said Anthony Cuomo, Vice President, Telemetrics. "We are pleased that they have selected Telemetrics as their primary source for advanced camera robotics systems and support."
